A reflection on the phrase "You Can't Eat Your Cake And Have It"

"Cake is sweet, but becomes literally suicidal
if you eat and still intend to have it"
- Samuel Enyetip

What do I mean by that?

You can't have the best of both worlds - It is either you keep one and loose the other or be prepared to loose both!

This is it! Once eaten, keeping possession of the cake is no longer possible; seeing that it is in your stomach (and no longer exists as a cake).

I will try to limit this as much as I can!

What you and I know as "ex" could be so fitting in this context.

Left for me alone, the word "ex" does not exist in my dictionary. Matter of fact, "you're gone, you're gone", but that doesn't matter anyways!

However, you will see with me that there is a relation between cake and ex. You eat your cake, it doesn't exit as cake anymore; you breakup with someone, they are not the same people you once loved!

But it becomes bad, sad and out of context when you feel can serve two masters at a time. You know
what I mean!

Now this is one funny mistake 85% of us are guilty of; many a times we ain't sensitive enough to identify and work on that particular defective part of us!

It is either we are too busy, or we wish to get busy not to realize them.

The Bible confirms that it is only dogs that returns to their vomit, but then in most cases we make ourselves "dog" by returning to our "ex" which in terms is the vomit.

Did I just say that?

Here is what Proverbs has to say in chapter 26 verse 11;
"As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly".

Well good enough that didn't come from me; "laughs", it's in your Bible!

On the other hand, as earlier stated, we repeat our folly because we claim to be too busy to identity and work exclusively on them in other to see to it that we are better off the person we used to be. God help us!

On the whole, be content with what you have even if it seems you really don't have... Keep building and treasuring that special person in your life no matter how flawing they could be!
Know that once you eat your cake, you certainly can't have it back.
